Moises Ayala was born on June 9, 1961 as Jose Moises Ayala Castro, in the department of Usulutan, El Salvador. He was the 5th child born to Jose Luis Ayala and Fidelina Castro. Moises had 7 siblings: Arturo, Orlando, Priscilla, Gabriel, Estela, Elias, and Esther.
Moises had a very humble upbringing. He grew up in a farm and one of the many stories shared of his childhood is how all his siblings would eat from one plate placed in the middle of the table that contained one poached egg and tortillas. He and all his siblings ate from that one egg, and they would still leave leftovers for their mother to eat. Moises also had a love for soccer, but his family didn’t have money to buy an actual soccer ball, so he and his brothers would make their own balls with old socks to play at a field near their home. Moises loved his family and began helping provide for them at a very young age working in the fields and such.
In December of 1976, Moises met the mother of his daughters, Amada. He was best friends with Amada’s older brother, Boris; they say it was like love at first sight. El Salvador was in the midst of a civil war, making it a dangerous place to live. Moises was a very determined young man and made it his mission to get himself and his family out of El Salvador. Moises was able to make it safely to the United States in 1981, but as soon as he arrived, he received news that his girlfriend, Amada, was expecting their first child and it was then that he chose to migrate back to to El Salvador to pick her up They began their journey to the United States in May of 1981.
The couple made it to the United States by late August of 1981 with help from strangers as they knocked on multiple doors asking for food and shelter. Their first destination was Tucson, Arizona, where they met a wonderful family that provided them shelter as they waited for the birth of their firstborn. On November 4, 1981, Moises became a father for the first time when he welcomed his daughter, Gretchen Aguirre. They lived in Tucson only for a few months, before deciding to move to California with Amada’s mother. They lived in California for about a month but Moises was not fond of California so he decided that they move to Las Vegas, NV, not knowing that Las Vegas would become his forever home.
Once settled in Las Vegas, Moises kept his promise and helped migrate his entire family to the United States. At this time, they (his parents, siblings, girlfriend, and daughter) all lived in a 3-bedroom government owned apartment. He worked in low level jobs to help provide for his family, but again, he met a very nice gentlemen who saw his struggles and gifted him his very first car. Although not in the best conditions, it was a vehicle that got him from point A to point B, and he was very grateful. It was soon after and sometime around 1986 that his love for cars and selling them sparked.
On July 5, 1986, Moises welcomed his second daughter, Evelyn Castro, but six months later he lost his father to Cancer on December 8, 1986. Moises remained a devoted son, brother, boyfriend, and father and continued to be determined to make a better life for his family in this new country. In April of 1990, Moises and Amada lived the American Dream when they purchased their first home on 2112 Beverly Way and in 1997, he became a U.S. Citizen which is when he permanently changed his name to just Moises Ayala. Moises began expanding his business selling cars and in February 1996 he purchased his second home on 9312 Leaping Lilly, which was a much nicer house that was in a better side of town.
Moises and Amada had their differences and unfortunately, they parted ways in 1998. Moises, however, continued to be a big part of his daughters’ lives and made himself available for all their needs, especially their car needs. He always instilled the importance of education to his daughters and encouraged them to succeed so they wouldn’t have the same struggles he faced in life. Moises witnessed his daughters graduate high school and college. He was a proud father to say the least and he always let his daughters know how much he loved them and how proud he was of them. He considered them as his “tesoros”, and he always referred to them as “Mama Linda". He became a grandfather for the first time in 2003. He was a grandfather to Joseph, Jazlenn, Adriel, Jenevee, and Xavier.
He later met Yesenia and they got married on October 29, 2005, at the Catalina Islands in a very private ceremony. Yesenia had a daughter from a previous marriage that Moises took in and helped raise as his own. Her daughter, Genesis, accepted him as soon as she met him and nicknamed him “Corazonsito”, and she quickly won his heart over becoming his third Mama Linda. Although his marriage with Yesenia did not last, Moises remained in Genesis’s life becoming a father figure to her and he loved her dearly. Moises never remarried; however, he was a ladies’ man and the ladies loved him.
Moises was a trustworthy and hardworking businessman; He spent over 30 years selling cars and through hard work and perseverance became an accomplished businessman; He owned Main Street Auto Sales and he was great at what he did. He spent his mornings at the auto auctions and his days hauling cars and preparing them to sell. He was very-well known throughout Las Vegas. Those that knew him considered him a great friend, and an outgoing person who enjoyed giving and making others laugh. He was a very generous person who helped so many people and trusted everyone he met, even after so many did him wrong. No matter the struggles he faced in life, Moises always remained positive and determined in making things better again.
Moises fell sick on November 8, 2021, and was hospitalized due to complications from Covid. Even though he was the one fighting for his life in the hospital, during his last days, he told his youngest daughter, Evelyn, that 'he had been praying for the wellbeing of his mother'. His oldest daughter, Gretchen, presented to him the Prayer of Salvation which he accepted and on the evening prior to his departure from this earth, his three daughters prayed over him. Moises Ayala passed on to be with the Lord on December 13, 2021, at 11:08am. Moises was survived by his mother, Fidelina, his brothers, Gabriel and Elias, his sisters, Priscilla, Estela, and Esther, his daughters, Gretchen and Evelyn, and his grandchildren, Joseph, Jazlenn, Adriel, Jenevee, and Xavier. Moises Ayala was a loving and proud father, a delightful grandfather, a wonderful brother, and a devoted son. He will be remembered as a generous person who had a passion for helping others and as a man with a great sense of humor who enjoyed making others laugh. He will be forever missed, and his legacy will live on forever. We have faith that we will see him again in the afterlife.
