Neil Sackmary, an amazing man who was larger than life and touched the hearts of and made a tremendous impact on the entire Las Vegas community, leaves behind a tremendous legacy and a gaping heart in all who knew him. It is impossible to capture in words all of the lives that Neil has touched and improved and how much he meant to everyone who knew him. Neil was loved immensely by his family, friends, business colleagues, and everyone who crossed his path. His generosity, caring, and kindness were unmatched.
Neil was born on December 13, 1973, in Kings Park, NY, to Gerald Sackmary and Sandy Speicher, and grew up in Yardley, Pennsylvania. He has spent over 30 years in Las Vegas. He was married to Sheila Sackmary, the love of his life, for 26 years.
Neil was a Graduate Gemologist who earned his degree from the Gemological Institute of America and was a practicing gemologist for more than 25 years. While in Las Vegas, Neil built Nevada Coin Mart, alongside his mother and wife, winning numerous awards, including having 44 Best of Las Vegas wins, more than any other business in Las Vegas history. Neil also had more appearances on Channel 13’s Morning Blend than any other guest in show history, including being a guest on the very first day of the show. The City of Las Vegas designated September 24, 2016 as Nevada Coin Mart Day. Neil also built other successful companies, including 360.Vegas Studios (the exclusive studio for Nevada Coin Mart, PIFF The Magic Dragon, BBB.Vegas Magazine, IPF.Vegas, and Sheriff’s Protective Association).
In addition to his numerous business accolades, Neil devoted his life to philanthropy and making a difference in the Las Vegas community. He supported the Mountain Pass Squad Club, the Clark County School District, Battle Born Guardians, and L.E.A.D. (Law Enforcement Against Drugs & Violence). In 2019, Neil was awarded the Citizen of the Year by the Sheriff’s Protective Association. A lifetime sponsor of the Injured Police Officer’s Fund and Online Store, Neil frequently hosted incredibly successful fundraisers. Neil was extremely passionate about helping children in the community and did so in a variety of ways, including through a backpack school supplies program, supplying candy and trick or treat bags for a safe Halloween event each year, and partnering with Channel 13 for a toy drive for 13 Days of Giving, which benefitted the Las Vegas Rescue Mission. Neil was also very passionate about putting an end to drunk driving and sponsored a series of public service messages reminding people that buzzed driving is drunk driving.
Neil is survived by his wife, Sheila Sackmary, his mother and stepfather, Sandy and Richard Speicher, his sister, Risa Dorsky, and his nephews, Silas Dorsky and Aitan Dorsky. All of our hearts are broken by his untimely passing.
The funeral will be held on April 24th at 3 pm at Palm Mortuary Northwest, 6701 N. Jones Boulevard, Las Vegas, NV 89131.
