Nenita Garcia Mathias

It is with unfathomable sadness that our family announces the sudden passing of our beloved wife and mother, Nenita Mathias. Nenita passed away on January 19, 2024. She was 75 years old. She leaves behind Roland, her husband of 52 years, daughters Peachy Mathias and Irene De Ocampo, and grandchildren Taylor, Devin and Madison.

Nenita was born in Manila, Philippines to Ben Garcia I and Irene de Jesus. She was the second youngest of four children and the only daughter. She met her husband when they were children. They married then soon immigrated to San Francisco. Nenita briefly worked as an office worker then dedicated herself to raising her two children. Upon Roland's retirement, they moved to Las Vegas and traveled throughout the United States and abroad.

Nenita's joys included shopping and going to restaurants. However, her grandchildren were what brought the biggest smile to her face. No amount of shopping or eating out compared to the time spent with Taylor, Madison and Devin.

Her bliss was cut short when her lungs no longer had the strength to breathe in the life she wanted to continue to live. She passed away peacefully on a Friday morning surrounded by those who she loved dearly in life, holding their hand before needing to let go.

Nenita will be remembered as a lovable, caring, and strong woman. She fought her battles with grace and tenacity. Her presence made those around her feel safe and secure with her warm and beautiful smile. She will forever be remembered by her kindness and love.
