She graduated from Canal Winchester High School in 1959 and went on to work at The Huntington National Bank in Columbus, until she got married in 1969 to John R Bumbaugh, who was in the United States Air Force. Patty and Jack lived in Okinawa, Japan for the next few years. In 1971, the military stationed them at Norton Air Force Base in San Bernardino, CA. Patty continued to live in California for the next 50 years. In 1975 they purchased a house in Highland where they along with their two daughters made it a home. Patty began working for San Bernardino County following her divorce in 1979. She went on to work for San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools in the retirement section, for the majority of her 42 year career with San Bernardino county. She continued to raise her daughters as a single mother throughout the 80’s and 90’s. In 2001 she received her AA degree from Crafton Hills College in Yucaipa, California, where at age 60 she was the oldest graduate in the class of 2001.
After her oldest daughter moved to Las Vegas in 2005 she made the drive from California to Vegas at least twice a year. In September 2020 she retired from SBCSS and decided to relocate to Las Vegas, Nevada. In February 2021 she joined the Raiders in making Las Vegas her home and it became official with the purchase of her dream home.
She was always young at heart, along with being very independent and a friend to all that met her. She enjoyed the changing world around her. When not at work you could find her at Jazzercise or enjoying a good action movie or a football game. She was really great at using emojis to text or to comment on facebook. She was a pillar of strength in her family. She pushed us to become stronger and closer.
Patty was preceded in death by her youngest daughter Wendy (Julie W. Geyer). It was her biggest heartbreak in life, now she is with Wendy in heaven.
There are still many of us that she has left behind. Patty is survived by her daughter Jacquelyn (Jackie) Alexander of North Las Vegas, Nevada.
