

Robert Maurice Goodman, 83, passed away peacefully Jan 16, 2013, in Las Vegas surrounded by his family. Robert was born May 4, 1929, in Quantico, VA to John Walter Goodman and Hazel Elizabeth Jones. He was preceded in death by his wife and sweetheart Shirley just three weeks ago; his brothers, James and John; his sister Jean; and children Scott Elmer and Lisa Bernice. Robert is survived by his brother Ray Goodman; his sisters Vera Murry and Brenda Engeberg; his children Tom (Melinda), Bob (Sharon), Connie Graham (Kelly) Pam Renner and Kelly (Stephanie). Robert has 27 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He served in the Army Air Corp from 1946 to 1949, a mission for the LDS church in New Zealand from 1951 to 1954. Robert later published a book on mission experiences. He attended Brigham Young University, met his eternal companion, Shirley Motschman, and married in the Los Angles, CA Temple on August 17, 1956. Robert served in many LDS church leadership positions including bishop and stake president. As a real estate developer he was responsible for 18 major syndications on the east coast. Robert lectured extensively on real estate investing and also published a book on the subject. He also served publicly as city commissioner in Harlingen, TX. He considered his greatest success his family. Memorial services in Las Vegas will be at 6pm, Tuesday, Jan. 22 at the LDS chapel at 8801 W. Alexander Road. Robert will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Richmond, VA next to his loving wife and two children. A viewing will be held at the the Bennett Funeral Home at 3215 Cutshaw Ave, on Monday Jan 28 from 7 to 9pm. A graveside service will take place at 11am, Tuesday Jan 29.
