

Robert was educated in McBaine, Missouri at Warren school, where his mother taught school before his birth. He completed his 8th grade education and advanced to Douglas High school. He had to leave McBaine and live with Ida Kelly who looked after different family members who migrated to Columbia, Missouri to attend Douglas High School. Robert’s family moved later after his father quit farming and got a job in Columbia to support his family and make sure they all were able to complete their secondary education. Upon completion of High school, he attended Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri, for one year and Joined the Army in 1946. After an Honorable discharge as a Supply Sergeant, he return to Columbia, Mo., married his wife Bernice Cross (deceased) . After their second child was born, Robert began to think about and pursue other means of support for his family, thus came the move to Wichita, Kansas. Being a World War II Veteran, he was able to secure employment at Boeing Aircraft. From there he became a United States Postman, then in 1957 he joined the Police department in Wichita, Kansas as a game changer in the History of that Police department. In 1966 He was promoted to Sargent, the first Black in the History of the department, several years later he was appointed to Lieutenant, and his third promotion gave him the distinction of being the first Black Officer to hold the rank of Captain, which made him the highest ranking Black on the Police department. His skills, talent and knowledge were put to use as the Chief dispatch and Communications and Administration officer for the department.
Peach, as he was called served some 22 years on the Wichita, Kansas Police Department. He paved the way for many young men and women to break the racial barrier and join and be promoted in rank in the Wichita Police department. After his retirement he and his family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he was employed by Caesars Palace Security for over 18 years, retiring in 1994 with the rank of Lieutenant.
Robert and his family were active members of Tabernacle Baptist church in Wichita Kansas. Later after moving to Las Vegas Nevada he became an active member of Unity Baptist Church, where he also served as Chairman of the Trustee Board. Robert was faithful until his health began to fail him, but never his love and trust in God.
Robert was also a member of the M.W. Prince Hall Grand Lodge, F. & A.M. of Nevada. The Phillip Bell Lodge No. 5 of North Las Vegas. Where he at one time served as the Worshipful Master. Robert was also an active Mason, in Wichita, Kansas prior to his move to Las Vegas, NV.
Robert’s mother, Lillie Mae; father, Robroy; and sister Carolyn Peach-Williams and brother, Thomas I. Peach preceded him in death. His Son, Robert M. Peach and daughter's Trilby J. Peach-Sims and Kathy Jean and former wife Bernice Peach, mother of his children have also preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memories, his Sister Betty J. Peach, Sister In Law Rose M. Peach , Daughter’s, Adrienne Gaines (Vernon), Felicia A. Peach; Grand Sons; Robert M. Peach Jr. , Frank A. Whiters, (Sherri) Idris R. Peach, Nathan R. Glispie; Granddaughter’s, Adrienne B. Whiters-McClain, Constance M. Peach, Tayeler R. Peach; Great Grand’s; Jordan Whiters, Aleyce McClain, Jordan Peach, Ashley Peach, Brandis Peach, Deloyne Graham, Kimberly Bailey, Amare Richardson , Idris Peach, Dana Peach. Nine Great Great Grandchildren. One Niece, Olivia Williams Grant (Michael); Nephews, Blayton Peach (Brandi), Michael Peach; Great Nieces, Marla Fielder (Daniel), Michele Grant; Chaunce Peach. Great Nephews; Mason, Riley, Eric, and Caleb Peach; Two Great Great Niece, a host of cousins and extend family and Robert’s special friend of many years Elaine. We shall all miss him dearly, but we know to be absent from the body is to present with God, and there is no better Joy in this life but to have eternal life with our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ.
