Sandra L Mount (Sandy Nelson) was born on November 4th, 1946, in Denver Colorado during a blizzard to Shirley and Leroy Nelson. As a child she had the opportunity to live all over the United States as her dad was a welder chasing the advancement of the oil pipeline. She was the oldest of 4 and losing her baby sister Sheena and her two brothers David and Mark was very hard for her. She also lost her husband George K. Mount Jr. a little over two years ago after being married for almost 57 years.
Sandy and George met at church in high school, and they married on September 19, 1964. She was a devoted wife who always supported her husband. They raised two boys, Kenneth Leroy Mount wife Chrissy Mount, Grandchildren Steven, Kaylee, and Lauren, Great Grandchildren Blake and Autumn and Eric Wayne Mount wife April Mount, Grandchildren Aubree and Coen, former wife Tressa Bredemann, Grandchildren Jhon and Cody. Great Grandchildren Sierra. She raised her two boys in Westminster, CA and then moved to Las Vegas in the late 80’s where Eric attended high school.
Sandy was a homemaker until her boys were older and then she began a career in finance. She was very intelligent and detailed. She worked at several finance companies before staying at Western Funding, Inc. for over 20 years before retiring. Sandy and George retired and moved to Oregon but that was a little too cold for them. Then they moved to San Jacinto, CA, Kingman, AZ and then when George passed away, she moved to Fort Mohave, AZ. where she was recently living enjoying going to concerts and living life to the fullest. She met Jerry Barth in June of 2022 and had their first brunch date on July 6. They enjoyed each other’s company and shared many common interests. Jerry brought joy back to Sandy’s life.
Sandy was an excellent listener and was very sweet to everyone who knew her. She was always up for new adventures. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, dancing, reading, bowling, billiards and watching Law and Order SVU. Even though she had two boys she was the cheer mom for their football teams and even became the head of Orange Country Jr All American Cheerleading running the annual competitions. She knew more about football than most men. Sandy was good at everything she attempted.
Sandy will be greatly missed by her sons Ken and Eric and their families. Sandy’s strong faith in God assures her a place in paradise and that will provide comfort during this difficult loss.
