

Scott E. Gotshall, 47, of Las Vegas, and formerly of Burr Oak, Mich., passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 27, 2010, at his home. Scott was born April 23, 1962, in Sturgis, Mich., a son of Todd and Sandra (Miller) Gotshall. He lived most of his life in the Burr Oak and Sturgis area, graduating from Burr Oak High School with the class of 1980. He attended Glen Oaks Community College and then attended Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago, where he received his degree. While attending high school and Glen Oaks, Scott served the community by working for Parker's Ambulance Service and with his grandparents at Miller's Grocery Store. After receiving his mortuary license, he returned to Sturgis to work for Rosenberg-Schipper Funeral Home. He later moved to Las Vegas to work for Palm Mortuary, where he had worked for the last 18 years and was presently employed. Scott is survived by his parents, Sandy and Allen Hoopingarner of Burr Oak, and Todd (Evelyn) Gotshall of Mebane, N.C.; his former wife, Laurie (Fisher) Gotshall of Sturgis; a sister, Jan (Tod) Schipper of Colon, Mich.; a brother, Rob (Kem) Hoopingarner of Vicksburg, Mich.; a nephew, Tyler Schipper; nieces, Megan Schipper, and Regan and Peyton Hoopingarner; special uncle, Wayne (Karen) Miller of Union City, Mich.; and other aunts, uncles and cousins. Family services were held in Colon, Mich., and burial of his remains will take place at a later date. A local celebration of Scott's life will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, at Palm Mortuary - Downtown, 1325 N. Main St., in Las Vegas. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made in memory of Scott, to Pet Haven of Sturgis, Mich., or the animal charity of your choice.
