Steven Mark Randall, 54, of Las Vegas, passed away Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010. In true Steve style, he left us on a date that his family and friends will never forget. He was born to Marilyn and Donald Randall, June 1, 1956, in Glendive, Mont., and raised in Denver. In high school, Steven was actively involved in music, including having the lead in the "Music Man" production. His adventures led him to service in the Coast Guard and National Guard. After exploring many options, he graduated from nursing school. He then started his career as a residential appraiser in Springfield, Mo., and soon after moved his family to Dallas, working for the FDIC to gain commercial experience. He achieved a BS in economics, earned an MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute and then completed a masters degree in ethics and policy studies from UNLV. He moved to Las Vegas in 1993 to work for Bank of America and eventually started his own business, The Randall Company, later to be called Criterion Group. Steven was an accomplished and passionate man. Living more in his short 54 years than most do in a lifetime. He loved to sail, and in the summer of 2005, decided to spirit a sailboat through a hurricane into the Bermuda Triangle. Music was a strong influence in his life. He played the French horn, trumpet and piano. He taught himself Spanish and became a coffee farmer in Costa Rica in the last years of his life. A lover of the arts, he frequented the opera and museums and served on the board of the Las Vegas Little Theater. Steven loved to learn and share his time and knowledge with others. In addition to the love and dedication he had for his children, he often found time to guide and support other children through his involvement with the Boy Scouts and various sports teams. Steven is survived by three children, Timothy, Abigail and Mark, of Las Vegas. He also is survived by his niece, Michelle; nephews, Robert and Marc; and two brothers, Gary and Dave. A memorial will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at Palm Mortuary, 6701 N. Jones Blvd., in Las Vegas. He will be laid to rest in St. Joseph, Mo.
