
Tom Sylvester, 66, of Las Vegas passed away unexpectantly of natural causes November 10, 2014. Tom was born in Twin Falls, Idaho and raised in Denver Colorado. Tom served 7 years in the U. S Army Reserves where his passion for food service began. Tom refined his culinary skills as a Chef at numerous Denver area restaurants. Tom and his young family moved to the Las Vegas area in the fall of 1979 after transitioning into meat sales. Tom was respected as a true meat specialist and recently retired from OUTWEST Meat Co. / US. Foods after 35 years in sales. Tom maintained a close relationship with the Las Vegas community. He served 10 years as a Metro Police Reserve Officer and was a devoted Little League coach for many years. Tom enjoyed many experiences outside of his professional life. Most notable was his passion for the Denver Broncos and enjoying a cold Coors Light with good friends! Tom embodied the motto of “Live Large, Laugh Often, and Love Always!” Tom is survived by his wife of 44 years, Bonnie Sylvester and his 2 beloved children, Stacey Sylvester of Las Vegas and Todd Sylvester of Lynnwood, Washington. Tom is also survived by sister, Sally Hoffman (John) and brother, Jerry Sylvester (Sandy), brother-in-law, Barry Wolf (Kathy). Tom enjoyed the love of many nephews and nieces. Tom’s love of life brought him into an extensive circle of friends and extended family. In keeping with Tom’s humble focus on the joy of those around him, the Sylvester family requests that all expressions of sympathy and condolence be done through a donation to the charity of choice in the name of Tom Sylvester. Tom’s “Celebration of Life” is being planned for January 2015.
