
Vincent John DiFiore, born July 11, 1910 in New York City, passed away on December 24, 2011, at the age of 101 years at his home. Known to most as Vinnie, he served as Sergeant in the United States Army, 76th Infantry Division during WWII, earning three Battle Stars and a Personal Merit Citation. After earning a degree in accounting at Drake Business School in New York, Vinnie went to work as an accountant for Paramount Pictures in New York, Chicago and eventually Lincoln, Nebraska, where he married his wife Virginia Alt and raise their family. In Lincoln he left Paramount Pictures and purchased his own drug store/pharmacy known as The Piedmont Drug Company. In 1963, he was persuaded by his brother, Dr. John DiFiore, a renowned Las Vegas cardiologist, to move to Las Vegas. In Las Vegas, Vinnie worked as an accountant for Frontier Fidelity Savings and Loan and then eventually became the chief accountant at the Sands Hotel prior to his retirement in 1976. Vinnie and Virginia loved to travel and spent many of their retirement years together traveling around the country and to several European countries. Vinnie was preceded in death by his father, Cosimo; mother, Rosaria and siblings Sylvester, Joseph, Maria Christina, Doree, Anna, John, Andrew; his bride of 51 years, Virginia Alt DiFiore; and most recently his daughter, Cynthia Christina DiFiore Braidotti. He is survived by children Vincent Richard DiFiore of New York, NY; Dr. Kent DiFiore (Martha) of Salt Lake City; Anne DiFiore-Will (Larry) of West Chester PA and Jim DiFiore (Beth); John DiFiore (Sherry); Margrette (Maggie) DiFiore of Las Vegas NV; grandchildren Marcus (Kemisha), Regina, Alessandro, Michael (Leila), Michaela (Greg), James, Cristina, Bettina, Laura (Leigh), Caroline; and great-grandchildren Kennedy, Matthew, Riley, Aubree and Lucy Rae. The family would like to thank Family Home Hospice for their support and assistance in the care of Vinnie. A Viewing will be from 5 – 7 PM, Friday, December 30, 2011, at Christ the King Catholic Community, 4925 S Torrey Pines Drive. A funeral mass will be held 11 AM Saturday December 31, 2011, also at Christ the King Catholic Community with Interment immediately following at Palm Mortuary and Cemetery, 7600 S Eastern Avenue.
