Virginia “Virgie” or “Gie” Mina, née Duzon, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the age of 70. Her vibrant spirit and generous heart left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Born on January 6, 1955, in Urdaneta, Pangasinan, Philippines, Virginia was a bright and determined student from an early age. She graduated with honors from Urdaneta Central School and went on to attend Divine Word Academy for high school, where she earned the distinction of salutatorian. Her academic excellence continued at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, where she completed her Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology through the College of Pharmacy.
Virginia built a distinguished career as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist specializing in blood bank services. Her professional journey took her to several respected medical institutions across the Los Angeles area, including Torrance Memorial Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente, and Gardena Memorial Hospital. Known for her dedication and work ethic, she was admired by colleagues and patients alike for her precision and commitment to quality care.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Virginia lived life with joy and passion. She had a deep love for dancing—especially salsa—and could often be found moving gracefully to the rhythm of music that brought her happiness. A seasoned traveler, she explored numerous countries and collected memorabilia from each destination as cherished reminders of her adventures.
Her creativity flourished in many forms. Virginia had a talent for crafts and home decorating; she especially enjoyed designing custom Christmas decorations that brought warmth and beauty to her surroundings. She also had a green thumb—her garden was filled with orchids and rare plants that she lovingly nurtured. Cooking was another of her passions; she delighted in experimenting with new recipes and cuisines from around the world.
Virginia’s generosity knew no bounds. She was especially devoted to her nieces and nephews, always ready with support or a thoughtful gift. Her perfume collection—particularly those from Paris—reflected her refined taste and love for elegance.
She is lovingly remembered by her siblings Evelyn Duzon Soriano (and husband Cypher), Myrna Duzon Chong (and husband Robert), Felixberto Duzon Jr., Virgilio Duzon (and wife Lynda); nieces and nephews Jerryl Soriano, Eilleen Carpo (and husband Erik), Ashley Soriano (and wife Kelsey), Bryan Duzon (and husband Kevin Pring), Brandon Duzon (and wife Mona); grandnieces and grandnephews Zoey Carpo, Zachary Carpo, Hazel Duzon, Evan, and Harley Duzon.
