

William “Bill” Slaughter English was born July 24, 1960 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Versia Gentry English. His father was the late William Edward Slaughter. Bill attended Brown High School. After graduating high school in 1978, he attended Jefferson Community College and later transferred to the University of Louisville in Kentucky. In 1985 Bill enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served for five years. In 1985, he was joined in holy matrimony to Kechia Lettice Thomas. With their union they were blessed with two beautiful daughters; Kaiya Javelle and Kori Morgan. In 1990 he began working for the Department of Family and Youth Services and retired after 11 years of service. Bill accepted Christ at an early age. He united with the Victory Missionary Baptist Church in 1997. He served as a member of the Voices of Victory, Praise Team and Drama Team. He was a life member of Kappa Alpha Phi Fraternity, Incorporated as well as a life time member of the Phillip E. Bell Jr. Masonic Lodge #5, Prince Hall Affiliate.
On April 2, 2011, Bill English departed this life. He leaves to cherish his memory his two daughters, Kaiya and Kori English and ex-wife Kechia Thomas English, all of North Las Vegas, NV. From his mother, Versia Gentry English, he leaves three sisters; Lois Jean Weaver of Baltimore, MD, Doris Marie Vannerson, and Ann English of Louisville, KY; six brothers, George “Johnny” Reeves, Lee Edgar Reeves, Clifton English, all of Louisville, KY, Robert Wimberly English of Houston, TX, Thomas Mobley English of St. Petersburg, FL. His brother James Larry English preceded him in death. From his father, William Edward Slaughter, he leaves two sisters; Phyllis A. Slaughter, Stacey L. Slaughter and one brother, Ronald G. Slaughter all of Louisville, KY. He also leaves two sisters-in-law; Crystal Pinnix and Velma Osborne of Louisville, KY, two Goddaughters and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and cherished friends.
