Willie James Tunson

Willie was born to parents Reese Franklin & Vivian Maurice Tunson on June 12th 1949, in Gilmer, Texas. He graduated from Bruce High School in 1967. Post graduation Willie attended Prairieview University before enlisting into the United States Air Force in March of 1974. Willie served honorably for 20 years attaining the rank of TSGT before retiring from active duty in March of 1994.

Willie married his devoted and loving wife Linda (Lynn) Marie Tunson on January 12th of 1985 who survives him. Willie is survived by his two children Beau and Dana, his grandchildren Mariah, Tristan, Grace and Quinn, his brothers Gary, Kenneth, Dale and sister Barbara Ann. Willie is preceded by parents Reese Franklin & Vivian Maurice Tunson.

Willie is known for his passion for sports. He was a life long fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Willie loved talking sports with anyone that wanted to hear the truth about how he saw things. He is also known for his love of Bowling on both the amateur and professional levels. Willie has added three perfect games to his bowling resume. Willie loved Texas, and always talked about going “home” because it was so green and lush. He will be laid to rest in the town he grew up in with his parents. My Dad loved God and was always grateful and thankful for the blessings in his life. He could be seen giving thanks through prayer regularly.

A reception for Willie will be held Tuesday, June 14, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Palm Northwest Mortuary, 6701 North Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, Nevada 89131, followed by a visitation from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Willie will be laid to rest in New Mountain Cemetery, New Mtn. Cemetery Road , Ore City , Texas.

Viewing from 10-11am, services to begin after on Friday, June 17th.
