Zoe was born on October 18, 1937, in Gay, Michigan, a daughter of the late Norman and Esther (Lindstrom) Ruonavaara.
Zoe graduated with the Class of 1954 from Calumet High School in Calumet, Michigan. In 1977 she graduated from Michigan Technological University as a Registered Nurse. Zoe’s hard work and dedication earned her a spot on the Dean’s List more than once.
Zoe’s nursing career enabled her to be a true blessing to so many people. Whether it was while she was working at a local Hospital, Rehab Hospital, the Women’s Prison, or the County Jail. She was adored and respected by all of her patients. Her quick wit, empathy, and compassionate spirit made her the most loved and respected nurse on the floor. It has been said “To know her, is to love her!”
Preceding her in death were her husband, Arthur C. Vicory; her parents; and nephews, Scott Ruonavaara and Eric Fredrickson.
Surviving her are five daughters, who were the light of her life, Roxanne Rauch of Ishpeming, Michigan, Renee Rauch of Las Vegas, Nevada, Connie (Pete) Koski of Champion, Michigan, Julie (Mark) Hanson of Auburn, Washington, and Terri (Rauch) Hall of Las Vegas, Nevada; five grandchildren, Justin (Amanda) McCormack, Mallory (Patrick) Scanlon, Renell, Bronson and Seth; six great-grand children, Allison, Jackson, Grayson, Harrison, Madison and Dylan; sister Janet (Roger) Turpening of Hancock, Michigan; brothers Kenneth (Bonnie) Ruonavaara of Saginaw, Michigan, and Michael Ruonavaara of Houghton, Michigan; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Celebrations of Life will be in Las Vegas, Nevada, in March; and early summer in Calumet, Michigan.
