Fanny Arbelaez, lovingly referred to as “Mami Fanny”, was born on November 21, 1930 in Bogota, Colombia. She married Joaquin Arbelaez, a member of the Navy, and was blessed with four beautiful daughters - Emperatriz, Amanda, Amira, & Amalia.
Despite the sudden and tragic passing of her daughter Amanda, who died at the age of 17, Mami Fanny remained a resilient matriarch and bravely moved to America with her daughters to start anew.
She is survived by her three daughters, ten grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren living in New Jersey, Georgia, Hawaii, and Colombia. Her spirit is with all of us, which means she's probably racking up frequent flyer miles visiting us all, traveling back and forth between North and South America.
Mami Fanny will always be remembered for her infectious laugh, unconditional love, and refusal to pick favorites amongst family members.
We miss you dearly, Mami Fanny. We will always treasure our time with you. We will always love you.
