She was born July 13, 1959, in San Diego, California, to Billy and Ruth Stallsworth and received her early education in the San Diego School District. Determined to pursue further education, June received an Associate of Science degree in Health Information Technology from San Diego Mesa College in August 1993. In August 2001, she graduated from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, with a degree in Psychology. She genuinely cared about children and received Special Education certification from Georgia State University to teach and mentor children with disabilities.
June married the late Willie Tate in 1998 and they lived in Stone Mountain, Georgia, for twenty years. Willie, her loving husband, preceded her in death in August 2018. June was an extraordinary Special Education teacher at Panola Way Elementary School in the Dekalb County school system. She was well liked by faculty and students. She possessed an appreciation for learning and passed this on to all of her children. June was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.
To those who knew and cherished her she was: A walking inspiration. A ray of sunshine. A trusted personal counselor. An illuminating rainbow with a pot of wisdom at the end. The woman who once added color to our pale skies has joined our Almighty Father after a long, yet courageous battle with cancer.
She embraced Greenforest Community Baptist Church, Decatur, GA, and was a member of the Loyal Bereans Fulfillment Hour class. Her ministry was mentoring young ladies with disabilities.
June is survived by four loving children: Jasmine Johnson, Jennifer Joseph, Fredrick Joseph, and Angela Joseph; ten grandchildren; a loving mother, Ruth Brown, of Stone Mountain, GA; one sister, Donna Johnson, of Stone Mountain, GA; one brother, Billy (Adaisha) Stallsworth of Aurora, CO; other family, friends, and co-workers who were dear to her heart.
