Nancy was born June 19, 1933 in Abbotsford, Michigan to Howard and Flossie Surface. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Harold. She leaves behind her daughter Barbara (TG) Rehkop, son Chris (Debbie) Jarchow, and daughter Laura (Brian) Gunter. She will also be lovingly remembered by her five grandchildren Becky, Daniel, Meghan, Rachel, and Hannah, and her great granddaughter Kathryn.
Long known for her positive outlook, sense of humor and quick whit, Nancy was a multifaceted, independent woman. She was an avid gardener, puzzler, crafter and above all, a reader. She expressed her desire to share the joy of reading, commonly lending a favorite book to friends and family. In addition, Nancy was a minimalists of sorts; an ardent recycler, her final aspiration was to be an organ donor. Specified in her final wishes she, “won’t need them anymore -- and hate[s] waste!” Nancy leaves her love behind in these many forms and has successfully passed her passionate and quirky ways down. Those near and dear to her heart will remember her with a cat in her lap, surrounded by a heap of books.
The family will hold a private service in St. Pete Beach to spread her ashes along the Gulf of Mexico. In lieu of flowers, Nancy only asked for loving thoughts, with no regrets.
