Perry was born in East Chicago, Indiana on February 9, 1934. He was second child and only son of Perry and Artie Pace. He graduated East Chicago Washington High School and struck out with his best friend Curtis Jones to join the Marine Corps. He served honorably during the Korean War and upon his discharge attended Indiana University (IU) on the G.I. Bill. At IU, he met and married his wife Adell. They were married on Christmas Day at Beck chapel on the IU campus. To support his family, they moved back to his home town and Perry went to work at Inland Steel Mill, where he worked for 34 years until retirement. His first retirement. He and Adell then moved to Atlanta, Georgia, again to be near family. Perry accepted a sales position with Sym’s department store where worked in the Men’s wear department for 20 years until his second retirement. To this day, his former customers speak highly of him.
Perry enjoyed the day to day moments of life. He loved spending time with his wife; golfing, bowling, travelling or even just a good game of scrabble were a few of things they enjoyed together. He loved music especially jazz and blues. He loved good jokes and bad. He loved laughter. But most of all he loved his family.
Perry was preceded in death by his parents, Perry Pace, Sr. and Artie Pace, and his sister Moselle Lewis. Leaving to cherish his memory are his wife Adell Pace, son Gregory Pace and his wife Noemi Morales-Pace, daughter Lynn-Margaret Pace and her life partner K- Lynn Berry, granddaughters Mallory Pace and Christina Pace, great grandchildren Mason and Madison, as well as a host of close relatives and friends.
