Philip Leroy Powell

Children: Keith L Powell, Donna M Powell, Linda Layton, Son-in-Law Kevin Layton, Daughter-in –Law, Esther Powell: Grandchildren: Keith R Powell and Wife Melissa Powell, Carrell Washington, Kerra Washington; Ari Wechsler, Kaila Wechsler, Yhanna Layton, Mya Layton: Great grandchild Ava Wechsler, and a host of nephews, nieces and relatives.

Our Father:

Early this morning the Lord whispered to our father that he had fought a good fight; he'd run a great race and it was now time for him to come Home to rest. Philip Leroy Powell, left to be with our Lord at 3:30 am. He was 91. We are blessed and privileged to have witnessed his last moments, with him, in his home; surrounded by those who love him dearly.

He was an inspiration, instilling in his children a strong work ethic, a sense of order, and the value of committing to a goal and achieving it. His devotion to his family, home, and church was something he stayed committed to during the time he and our mother raised their family in New Jersey, and after they retired from the workforce.

Dad had a love for improving his surroundings especially outdoors. He was always planting flowers, shrubs and keeping his lawn like it was professionally manicured. In the fall, you would see our dad raking and carrying bags of leaves even at 90 years old.

We are going to miss him so much and now there will always be a void in our lives which will be difficult to fill and our hearts will ache from time to time, because we are no longer able to hear his voice and laughter or see his smile.
