

A proud US Veteran, Alan served in the US Air Force. He was married to Mary Cary (Johnson) for 29 years up until her passing on February 15, 2010. In 2012 he was introduced to his fiancé Kathleen Spatzer who passed on December 14, 2023. He and Kathy moved to Little River in 2014 and he became an active member of the American Legion Post 186. Most recently, Alan was awarded a Quilt of Valor which he proudly displayed. Being an outdoorsman, he also loved fishing, hunting, and of course squirrels. Alan had a passion for pool and was a member of the APA for both 8 and 9 ball. He always took the time to mentor fellow team members. He loved playing cards especially 500 rummy. Family and friends would come over every Friday night for a friendly and competitive game while enjoying pizza. He loved cheeseburgers and always said “the bigger, the messier the better” Most importantly, he enjoyed the time spent with his children, grandchildren and his 2 cats Sassy and Mew. Treasured memories will forever live on.
Surviving are his children, MaryGrace Pearage of Avoca, PA (fiancé, Louis Mazzocchi), A.J. Cary of Uniondale, PA (Becky Smith), Marie Cary of Old Forge, PA (Terry Acker); grandchildren, Adryanna Cary, Dayna Pearage, John Cary, Logan Topa, Jace Topa; brothers Ray Cary of Jacksonville, FL, Paul Cary (wife, Dianne) of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Christine Bolling of Rochester, NY; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, David Cary and sister, Judy Hoffman.
A Celebration of Life will held from 6:00 until 8:00 pm, on Friday, June 14th 2024 at the American Legion Post #186.
