Ashley Elizabeth Elko Griffin 37, of Little River, SC, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 18, 2017. She passed away at home.
She leaves behind her soul mate and loving husband, Jeffrey M. Griffin, daughters Hayley Elyce Bilko and Lyla Carolann Griffin, all Little River, SC. Her husband and daughters were her reason for fighting the good fight for so long. She was well loved by all and will be missed by all!
Born in Carbondale, PA on December 16, 1980, she was the loving daughter of John C. and Cynthia L. Elko (Malinchak) of Little River, SC. Also surviving is her brother, John L. Elko and his son John Michael of Carbondale, PA, along with aunts, uncles and many cousins that she loved so much.
Anyone that knew Ashley, knew she was a loving and caring person that had friends all over the world and was there for every one of them, too many to mention were like family and she was like a second mom to many of her friend’s children. She lost one of her best friends, Grams (Carol A Malinchak), on Sunday November 9th 2008. I know that they are together again laughing and smiling, looking over our family. As a young girl, she enjoyed fishing, ballet, track, tennis, basketball, but most of all loved spending time with her friends. She carried a deep empathy for those suffering, often placing others needs ahead of her own. Her infectious smile and sweet sensitivity were magical, and her creativity can only be explained as God-given.
She is a graduate of Carbondale Area High School, received a degree in Criminal Justice at Lackawanna College, and a paralegal at McCann School of Business, both of Scranton, PA.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Malinchak, Sr. of Crystal Lake, PA and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John A. Elko of Avoca, PA.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 pm on Saturday, December 30 in Lee Funeral Home.
A guestbook is available at www.leefhandcrematory.com.
Lee Funeral Home of Little River/North Myrtle Beach is serving the family.
