

Barbara Ann “Bobbie” Power passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025, in Little River, South Carolina. Born on April 19, 1937, in Bellaire, Ohio, Barbara was the daughter of Clifford and Barbara Morgan. She was predeceased by her husband Jerome Power, brother Ronald Morgan, son Leslie Woodruff, daughter Stephanie Howsare, and stepdaughters Elizabeth Derrickson and Joan Power. Barbara graduated from high school in St. Clairsville, OH, before earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland—a testament to her intelligence and determination. Barbara’s career spanned many years as a financial analyst in the defense and space industries. Barbara lived and worked most of her life in the Washington DC Metropolitan area. She resided in Rockville, MD until eventually relocating into Memory Care in Little River SC to be close to her daughter. Her family was the center of her world, and she embraced her role as a mother and grandmother with warmth and unwavering love. She is survived by her daughters Anna Bjerke (John), Melissa Menacher, brother Tom Morgan (Melissa); stepchildren, Michael (Debbie) Power, Tim Power (Karen) and Jane Wilsion; grandchildren, Coty Akers, Nathaniel Bjerke-Harvey, Chad Menacher, Travis Menacher, Megan Hartford, Julia Pino, Dustin Power, Katherine Power, Richard Derrickson, Christopher Derrickson and Charles Derrickson, Matthew Power and Laura Power; and several great grandchildren. Barbara’s life was marked by generosity and grace. A great friend to many, she gave freely of her time, love and touched many souls. Her heart and home were always open, welcoming to all who entered with kindness and care. She volunteered at Strathmore Hall and was a true patron of the arts/theater, and she attended University of MD basketball and football games with rigorous enthusiasm. She had a deep-rooted faith in God that guided her life, which she expressed through years of dedicated volunteer work at church. Her hobbies brought joy to herself those around her. Whether crocheting intricate patterns for loved ones, baking treats that filled the house with warmth, or tending lovingly to her garden, Barbara found beauty in simple pleasures. Her independence and strength were matched only by the tenderness she showed to others. Barbara Ann “Bobbie” Power lived life on her own terms—with courage, compassion, and an enduring spirit. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. A service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Christ Episcopal Church 107 S. Washington Street, Rockville, MD 20850. A light lunch will follow in the Parish Hall.
