Bernice Bell Yaksic, "Mom" passed away on Monday, September 30,2024, at Seacoast Hospital in Little River , SC, following complications from a fall. She fought a hard battle these past years and with the help of the many kind aides and residents at The Legacy of North Myrtle Beach, she was happy and much loved. We are eternally grateful to them.
She was one of nine children to Isa and Boyd Bell of Luzerne, PA. She attended Brownsville High School until she married Dad, known as "Bingo" in 1946. Theirs is a love story lasting 57 years until his death in 2004. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Brenda; sisters Ruth, Edith, Gladys, and Shirley: and brothers Howard and Warren.
Bernice worked at the Brownsville General Hospital and later retired from California University computer center. She was a sun worshiper and spent many summers vacationing with Dad and friends. Their favorite vacation spot was Marco Island, FL. She was a Steelers fan, an animal lover, especially dogs, and she never met a piece of candy she didn't eat! Above all, she was a nurturer, a caregiver, playing a major role in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren. "Nana was the best!"
She is survived by her daughter Janet Conn and husband Tony; grandchildren Norm Wible and Mandy Gause (Kevin); great grands Eli Gause and Tessa Wible; sisters Betty Illig (Jim), Doris Hertzog (Dennis), and Donna Gracon; "sister" Florence Conn and "brother" Jim Yaksic: along with many nieces and nephews, all of whom loved Aunt Bernie and received many birthday cards from her over the years.
Private arrangements are being handled by Lee Funeral Home, Little River.
In her memory, have a piece of candy ....and smile !
