Chris Suits , a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and the ultimate “funcle,” passed away peacefully on Friday, March 7th 2025 at the age of sixty two. While our hearts are heavy, we know he’d want us to remember him not with tears but with laughter and love.
Born on 10/10/1962 in South Charleston WV, to Bob and Pat Suits who preceded him in death. Chris lived a life full of kindness, adventure, and the kind of humor that could turn any moment into a memory worth keeping. He was the heart of every gathering, always quick with a joke, a hug, or a spontaneous lesson on life’s simple joys—like savoring a good song, cheering on the Cincinnati Bengals or Marshall Thundering Herd, or delivering the perfect punchline
As a husband, he was a steadfast partner, sharing a lifetime of love and laughter with Brenda Suits . As a father, he was a guiding light, offering wisdom, encouragement, and unconditional love to Matthew Hargrave Suits (Katey) . As a grandfather, he was a source of endless stories, belly laughs, and gentle lessons that will be carried on for generations to Dean Hargrave Suits and Kenneth Mac Suits.
To his siblings (Rob and Mike both of Saint Albans) he was not just a brother but a lifelong friend, a confidant, and the one who could turn any moment into a cherished memory. And to his many nieces and nephews, he was the legendary “funcle,” known for his signature sense of humor, big-hearted advice, and an uncanny ability to make life just a little more fun.
Chris had a way of making people feel seen, valued, and loved. Whether through his storytelling, his ability to "try" to fix anything, or his knack for making people laugh until they cried, he left an indelible mark on all who knew him. And let’s be honest—if he could chime in now, he’d probably say, “Lord, it’s the same old tune, fiddle and guitar… where do we take it from here?” Well, Chris, we’ll take it forward, keeping your spirit alive in the love we share and the stories we tell.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on March 14th, 11am at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church (1100 Eighth Ave N., North Myrtle Beach, SC, 29582). In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and / or Autism Society of America, a reflection of his generous spirit and lifelong commitment to helping others.
Rest easy, Dad. Your love, your laughter, and your legendary style will never fade.
