

On Friday, August 28, 2020, Darlene Rose (Sallin) Ormond, loving wife and mother, passed away at the age of 70.
She was born on October 23, 1949 in Norfolk, VA, to the late William F. and Ruby Braswell Sallin. She married Richard Ormond in 1969 and graduated from East Carolina University with a teaching degree in 1972. She and Richard joined the United States Air Force in 1975 and traveled many places together. She worked as an emergency room medic while in the USAF. After her time in the military, she and Richard settled in Wingate, NC, where she taught middle school mathematics until retirement. They moved to North Myrtle Beach, SC, in 2003 and she lived out the rest of her days reading and enjoying her grandchildren.
Darlene is survived by her devoted husband, Richard, of the home; her loving daughters, Nicole (Ken) Carpenter of Polkton, NC; Krista Kassis of Weddington, NC; seven beautiful grandchildren, Kent, Christian, Gracie, and Carson Carpenter; Isabella, Kohl and Jaxon Kassis; a sister, Belinda Seagars (AL); a brother, William Sallin (NV). She had many special nieces and nephews that she thought of as her own.
Services will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at Our Lady Star of the Sea at 1:00 pm. Donations can be made in her name to Our Lady Star of the Sea, 1100 8th Ave. North, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582.
