David K. Merrick

A true patriot and proud veteran, Dave served in the US Army. He retired from American Electric Power after 39 years. After retirement, Dave and Susan his wife of 22 years made their home in Cherry Grove, SC. Although not in Ohio anymore, Dave still was an avid Ohio sports fan. He followed Ohio State Football and basketball, the Cleveland Indians and Browns and the Columbus Blue Jackets. He loved all music and especially enjoyed Jimmy Buffett concerts and Blue Grass Festivals. He loved being with his family and sharing the joy of children and grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Robert Merrick and Stacy Williams. He is also survived by his stepchildren Steve Griffin (Angie), Stephanie Pare (Pat), Suzanne Bush (Tim), and Shannon Griffin. His grandchildren, Melanie, Taylor, Courtney, Jordan, Griffin, Grady, Dempsey, Henry, Trent, Max, Roman and one great-grand, Oaklee will always love and remember him. Also surviving Dave are his brothers, Eugene Merrick, Randy Merrick and his sisters, Melody Roush (Tom) and Bronwyn Schlegel (Ken).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to MSA Hospice, 4685 Highway 17 Bypass South, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Ohio. Dave has climbed his highest tower and the stars will forever be brighter.
