Donna Young James, age 77, of Little River, SC, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, April 27. She was born to Robert & Anna May Young on April 9, 1948, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania where she attended Myers High School and graduated from Wilkes College. While attending college, she met her loving husband, Richard James. After they wed, they moved to Los Angeles which is where they gave birth to their two children, Tracy and Brian. Thereafter, the family moved back east, settling in Rockville, Maryland, a suburb of Washington, D.C. Donna began her working career as a government contractor. She then became a licensed paralegal and worked with three prominent law firms in Washington, DC: first as a paralegal, then a legal support manager until her retirement in 2013. When Richard retired in 2014, they moved to Little River, South Carolina. In 2021, they bought a vacation house in The Villages, Florida where they spent a good deal of time.
Donna adored her five grandchildren and loved spending every moment with them. She and Rich traveled extensively throughout the US, multiple times to Europe, Alaska, Hawaii and even Cuba. She enjoyed relaxing with a good glass of wine. Her late sister’s husband taught her and Richard all about the finer points of wine when they lived in California. Donna also loved to play golf, often playing three to four times a week. In addition, she volunteered feeding the homeless and at the hospital in Little River.
Donna is survived by her husband Richard and their children, Tracy Hunt and Brian James. She is also survived by her grandchildren Mary James, Michael James, Thomas James, Nathan Hunt and Kaytlyn Hunt.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Donna’s memory to the Susan G Komen for the Cure Foundation to fight breast cancer at http://www.info-komen.org/goto/Donna_James
