Dorothy Turner, 80, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023 at home with her husband by her side. Born on February 24 in Providence, Rhode Island, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Michael and Lee Aquino. She was the loving and devoted wife of James Lee Turner, Master Chief Petty Officer, USN, Ret.
A talented pianist, Dorothy received her BM degree in music from George Mason University. She taught piano in Fairfax, VA for 40+ years before moving to Windemere, FL where she eventually retired. While in Fairfax, she was the Past President of the Springfield Music Club where she was a former member. In December 2020, she and James relocated to Little River, SC.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 38 years, are her children, Michelle Shapiro (Jerry); Karen Taylor (David); Wendy Estes (Mark); Sharon Malacane (Gary); grandchildren, Christopher Via; Ryan Via; Allison Shackelford (Kenneth); Lauren Caito (Riley); Matthew Malacane (Erika); Laura Malacane; Emily Malacane; great-grandchildren, Cayden; Cameron; Arthur; and Henry. Her step children, Brian Turner (Janette); Julie Hrenko (Nick); Steven Turner (Dawn); step-grandchildren, Serena and Troy Turner; Alexander, Benjamin, Victor, and Kristina Hrenko; step great-grandchildren, Chloe and Aayla.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 in Arlington National Cemetery and a reception will follow from 2:30 until 5:00 p.m. at Patton Hall.
