

Mrs. Elaine Blakely Allison, 76, died January 17, 2025. Born June 26, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Frances and Ben Blakely of Efland, N.C. Elaine graduated from Orange High School (Hillsborough, N.C.) in 1966 and graduated from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill with a degree in English Education in 1970.
Elaine married Michael Cole Allison of Hillsborough N.C. in 1969 and at the time of her death, they had been married 55 years.
Her career as an English teacher spanned the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, Durham County Schools, and Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools. After transitioning to a career in Human Resources, she spent 23 years at Durham Regional Hospital, leaving there in 2001 as Director of Human Resources. She then spent 9 years at Iredell Health System in Statesville, N.C., retiring from there in 2010 as Vice President of Human Resources.
Elaine and Michael moved to North Myrtle Beach after retirement and spent many enjoyable hours walking the beach collecting sharks’ teeth and listening to music at the many clubs in the area. Elaine’s greatest joy was assisting with the care of her grandson, Cole, in his early years and having a close bond with him as he was growing up. She enjoyed cheering for him at his soccer matches as well as his basketball games.
Survivors include husband, Michael Allison of the home, daughter, Lauren Allison Foster (Shawn) of Longs, S.C., grandson, Cole of Longs, S.C. and brother, B. Taylor Blakely (Sylvia) of Raleigh, N.C., and sister-in-law Karen Allison Fowler of Hillsborough and Sunset Beach, N. C. and Brother-In-Law Dr. Craig E. Allison (Scarlett) Elaine was predeceased by her nephew Geoffrey Blakely.
