Eugene Edward Klar

Eugene Edward Klar, 86, died December 29, 2017 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

Born on March 31, 1931 in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late Edward E.

and Ruth M. Johnson Klar.

Mr. Klar proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. He retired from Niagara Frontier Metro Systems in Buffalo, NY in 1994. While living in Collins Center, NY, he entered the Diaconate and was ordained a Permanent Deacon in 1986 at St. Joseph Cathedral in the Dioceses of Buffalo, NY. His first assignment was at Holy Spirit Church in North Collins, NY. After the death of his first wife, he moved to Jamestown, NY and served as Deacon at St. James Catholic Church. While there, he met Nancy Lee Billstone-Peterson. They were married and in 1995 moved to Myrtle Beach, SC.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy L. Klar; children, Kathleen Baxter (Bill), Linda Briggs (Robert), David Klar, Kristine McCabe (Ryan), Kim Himes (Brian); step children, Stephen Peterson (Diane), Susan Dreier (Michael) grandchildren, Matthew, Nicholas, Dylan and Jeffrey; step grandchildren, Jeffrey, Kristen (Dominic), Kathleen (Macus); and great grandchildren, Gabriella, Dominic, Julia, Clara, Jack and Gus.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 pm on Wednesday, January 3 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Inurnment will be at Holy Spirit Cemetery, North Collins, NY at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, North Myrtle Beach, SC or Holy Spirit Church, North Collins, NY.
