Gary met and began dating the love of his life, Vivian VanEpps in 1985. Although it took years to make it “official”, they married on Monday, December 2, 2013. They enjoyed all their years together before and during their marriage.
A true patriot at heart, Gary was a proud US Veteran, having served in the Army. He was builder by trade, but considered himself a Jack-of-all-trades and a master of none. Whether wood working, fixing a car, or anything around the house, he did everything with love for his family and friends. Gary may have been an ornery man, but his heart was larger than life. He enjoyed being with his family where they played poker and other card games. He considered himself a pool shark and although he never conquered the game of Chess, he was a wiz at checkers, even teaching his children to play. His wit will live on forever and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Surviving in addition to his wife Vivian are his sons, Bruce Maze Combs (wife, Libby), Kenneth Aaron Combs (fiancé, Diane); daughters, Isabella “Belle” Nicole Combs, Angie Page (partner, Billie); grandchildren, Laney, Mazie, Kenzie, Nova, Aaron, Nathan, Jordan, and Rachel. Gary is also survived by sisters, Dianne Duke (husband, Kenny), Elaine Parker, Jane Pack (husband, Fred), Dena Wilson; and brother, Keith Lumley. He is preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Maze Combs.
