

James Kennith “Kenny” Byrd, 69, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2021 at McLeod Seacoast Medical Center.
Born on March 27, 1951 in Monroe, NC, he was the son of the late Merley J. and Joann Hilton Byrd.
Kenny was a faithful member of Living Water Baptist Church. He was a huge fan of the Clemson Tigers and loved all college football. He and Shirley spent many vacations attending the Southern Gospel National Quartet Convention and enjoying their stay in the mountains. Kenny was a dedicated funeral director at Lee Funeral Home for over 20 years.
Kenny is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Plyler Byrd; daughter, Heather Byrd; son Kennith Byrd, II; stepdaughters, Charity Brown (Douglas) and Christina Catoe (Brandon) brother, Joey Byrd (Pamela); sisters, Patricia B. Gardner (Richard), Nancy B. Baker (Bucky); and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Living Water Baptist Church. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be on Monday, January 18, 2021 at Flat Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
