With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Jean Holton, who departed from this world on Saturday, March 28, 2026, after a courageous battle with an illness. Jean was born on May 3, 1934, in Cranford, NJ, to her beloved parents, Edward and Mary Hunn. She was 91 years old.
Jean was a beacon of love and kindness; a woman whose gentle spirit and generous heart touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Harold Holton, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage, having wed on February 27, 1953. She was also preceded in death by her beloved parents, Edward and Mary Hunn, and her dear sisters, Mary Walker and Susan Emerson.
Jean's legacy continues through her surviving family members: her loving brother John and his wife Peggy Hunn; her devoted sons David Holton, Tad Holton, John and his wife Lisa Holton; and her beloved daughters Donna and her husband Peter Jensen, and Laura and her husband George Petty. Jean was a proud and fun-loving grandmother to eight cherished grandchildren, Rachel, Marla, Jenay, Matthew, Scott, Samantha, Luke, and Brette, and was blessed with five precious great-grandchildren, Ryan, Rocco, Cash, Remi, and Francesca.
Jean's early life was spent in Cranford, where she graduated from Cranford High School. A woman of deep faith, she was a longstanding member of Christ United Methodist Church in Piscataway, NJ, where she dedicated her time and spirit to the service of her community. In 2004, Jean moved to Little River, where she embraced her new surroundings and became an avid member of the Red Hat Society, cherishing the friendships and experiences she found there.
A lover of nature and the arts, Jean found joy in her garden and the creative pursuits of painting, ceramics, and crafts. Her artistic talent was matched only by her kindness, which she shared generously.
In honor of Jean's compassionate nature, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Agape Care South Carolina, an organization that aligns with her spirit of giving and care.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Valene Barrett, Peggy Jo Ward, and the Agape family for their loving care and heartfelt service during Jean's final days, providing comfort and support that will never be forgotten.
A celebration of Jean's life will be held at noon on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Lee Funeral Home and Crematory, where we will gather to honor her journey. Beginning at 11:00 a.m., we welcome friends and family to visit at the funeral home.
Jean Holton's memory will forever be a blessing to those who knew her. As we mourn her loss, we celebrate the love and warmth she brought into our lives, and we find solace in the knowledge that her spirit will continue to guide us, reminding us of the beauty that kindness and love can bring into the world.
