Joanne S. Schell

Joanne S. Schell, age 85, of Longs, South Carolina passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. Born on April 26, 1938 in Murfreesboro, North Carolina she was the daughter of the late Jay and Gwendolyn Smith.

In the tapestry of life, there are those whose threads weave beauty, love, and warmth into every corner they touch. Joanne Schell was one such gifted soul, a loving wife, devoted mother, and cherished grandmother whose presence graced our lives with a radiance that will forever be missed. Joanne’s love of her family was as boundless as the sky and as enduring as the ocean tides.

The legacy she leaves behind is one of love, creativity, and the profound impact one individual can have on countless lives. Though she has departed this world, her spirit lives on in the beauty she created, the memories she shared, and the love she planted in our hearts.

Survivors include her husband of 43 years Sanford “Lee” Schell; daughter, Dottie Benjamin; son, Andrew Benjamin; daughter-in-law, Jan Benjamin; brothers, Jay W. Smith and Al Smith; sisters, Kathy Fowlkes and Jewel Johnson; two grandchildren and two four legged fur grand babies.

She is preceded in death by her sister Lynn Pope.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday September 2, 2023 at 1:30 pm at Pleasant Plain Baptist Church 1260 State Hwy 57 N, Little River, SC 29566.
