Johnny C Jones

Johnny C. Jones, age 89, of Little River, South Carolina passed away peacefully at Angel House Hospice Care Center in Whiteville, North Carolina on Tuesday, December 6, 2022. Born in Newton, North Carolina on May 9, 1933 he was the son of the late Carroll and Mildred Jones.

A talented bass guitar player with a passion for music, Johnny played in the church choir at Pleasant Plain Baptist Church in Little River where he was a member for over 19 years. Johnny believed in hard work, he was a very dedicated and well respected employee at Foote Lithium Company in Kings Mountain, North Carolina. He relocated to Cherry Grove from Kings Mountain on March 1, 1985. Johnny enjoyed working in his yard, fishing and riding his bike. One of his favorite things to do was enjoy a nice meal with his beloved friends and family.

Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Earline Jones; children, Arthur “Sunny” Jones (Beverly), Darlene Johnson (Johnny), Thomas Downer (Kathy), Brenda Fox (John), Serina Taylor (Bob); brothers, Guy Jones (Frances), Roger Jones (Carol); sisters, Joanne Smith (Tommy), Cindy Kelly (Rancy) along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents along with his first wife of 50 years, Eva Jones and his brother, Jack Jones.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on on Monday, December 12, 2022 at Pleasant Plain Baptist Church in Little River. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00 am - 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Cancer Society.
