

One of her last sentences to us were “I’m coming home tomorrow!” Yes, dear, you are home, may the lord bless you and keep you.
Kathy was born on March 21, 1963 in Queens, NY to James Dewitt and Barbara Marie (Competello) Knapp. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother for 38 years. On November 18, 1983, she married Michael Kenneth Solak in New Port Richey, FL. That sailor swept her off her feet. They moved to Raleigh, NC where they raised two lovely daughters, Nicole and Breanna.
Kathy had a passion for baking and loved to watch Food Network and play Angry Birds. Kathy survived base of tongue cancer and was fighting Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis at the time of her death. She loved nature, more specifically butterflies and sea life. Mike and Kathy moved to Carolina Shores, NC in September 2020 where they had planned to retire.
Kathy was preceded by death by her father, James; mother, Barbara; and brother, Gary.She is survived by her husband Michael, her two children, Nicole (Sebastijan Bartula) and Breanna (Efrain Hernandez), her big sis Irene (Joseph LoDico), and one precious little granddaughter (Zoey).
