Kenneth W Smith

Kenneth passed away Monday, February 26, 2024. Born on March 2, 1945, in Bath, ME,. He was a son of the late Wilden Hayden and Hazel Alice (Sweeney) Smith. After high school, Ken joined the US Army National Guard. He met Hazel Susan Cristelle and the two were married on March 26, 1966. Ken and Sue made their home in CT, where he worked as a safety manager with Air Gas, and retired following a lengthy career. In 2012 after his retirement, he and Sue moved from Coventry, CT to Wilmington, NC before moving to Little River, SC just over a year ago. Ken loved basketball and baseball. He played basketball all four years of his high school career at Morse High School in Bath, ME and was part of the state championship team. He also coached both farm and little league baseball for many years. He was an avid Uconn Huskies fan and rarely missed a game.

In addition to his wife, Ken is survived by sons, Kenneth J. Smith of Reading, PA; Keith J. Smith of East Hartford, CT; a daughter, Kelly Smith Anthony (husband, Tennyson) of Little River, SC; granddaughters. McKayla Smith Ferreira (husband, Ariel) of Leominister, MA; Jordyn Smith of Fairfield, ME; great-granddaughters, Morgan and Natalie. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law Teresa Cristelle of Glastonbury, CT. Ken is preceded in death by his brother, Donald Hayden Smith.
