Larry Stean McCaskill, 76, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. Born on March 6, 1948, in Wilmington, NC, Larry was the son of the late Ernest S. and Mary Keesler McCaskill. He was predeceased by his first wife Trudie Mishoe McCaskill.
Following graduation from Statesville Sr. High School, Larry received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina. After his graduation from USC, Larry joined the Armed Services where he proudly served in the US Army.
Larry retired in 2005 from the welding supply business and moved from Columbia to North Myrtle Beach. He left behind many treasured friends; however, he kept up with each of them. Whether living in Columbia or not, he remained loyal to the University of South Carolina Gamecocks and would frequently be seen in his “Garnet and Black” Gamecock golfcart in North Myrtle Beach. His support to the Gamecocks was unwavering, even though their toughest seasons were difficult.
After his move to the beach, Larry enjoyed golfing. He may not have been a pro-golfer, but he enjoyed the sport. On May 5, 2017, Larry married Patsy and the two were inseparable. Her family instantly became his and he loved them as his own. He treasured his time with each family member, moments with his grandson Thomas, and even plant shopping with his sister-in-law, Vicky. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy; stepchildren, Jennifer Sides (David), Lisa Cox; grandchildren, Ashleigh, Madison, Taylor, Kelly, Kaitlyn, Thomas; sisters-in-law, Vicky Ford and Kim Steimle.
