

Leonard A. Recchia, 76, of Longs, SC, formerly of Waterbury, CT, passed away July 31, 2017. He was the husband of Joyce Carole (Barone) Recchia to whom he was married to for 52 years.
Mr. Recchia was born September 5, 1940 in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Filomena G. (Colagrossi) Recchia and the late Nicholas A. Recchia. His parents moved to Waterbury, CT when he was an infant. Len attended local schools and was a 1958 graduate of Crosby High School. Later he graduated from Post College in 1981 with a BS in Business Management. He proudly served his country in the U S Navy. After being discharged from the Navy Len went to work for Uniroyal Chemical (Chemtura). After forty years of service he and Joyce retired and moved to South Carolina. Len was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in North Myrtle Beach, SC. He was Past Faithful Navigator of the Forth Degree Knights of Columbus and Past Grand Knight of Council 7122. He was also a member of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher and a Third Order Carmelite as well as a Minister of the Eucharist.
Besides his wife, Joyce, he is survived by a son, Kenneth D. Recchia of Unionville, CT, a daughter, Nicole A. Cocchiola of Longs, SC and a son Steven A. (Laura) Recchia of Watertown, CT. He is also survived by two grandchildren Anthony E. Cocchiola and Emily R. Cocchiola. He was predeceased by another son John.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium niche. The family will receive friends following the inurnment.
