Linwood "Buddy" Morris, a longtime resident of Edgewater, Maryland, who made his home in Calabash, North Carolina since 2018, passed away at home. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ruby C. Morris.
Buddy served honorably in the United States Navy. After his military service he worked as a butcher for Giant Food, and later was the owner and operator of Buddy’s Lawn Mowing Service in Edgewater for many years. He took pride in his work and in serving his community.
A devoted family man, Buddy treasured time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his children Dennis W. Morris; Debra L. Morris; Denise M. Hendrix and her husband Randy; Stephen K. Brown and his wife Lara; and Lee Ann Fort and her husband Dan. He was preceded in death by his son Robert L. Brown, Jr. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren who brought him great joy.
Buddy is also survived by siblings Dorothy L. Mitchell, Mary F. Mosley, and Barbara E. Elliott. He was preceded in death by siblings Kenneth F. Morris and Jean King.
In his younger years Buddy loved music and cars — he enjoyed playing the guitar, drag racing his dragster “Little Stinker,” and participating in numerous car shows across Ocean City and the DC/VA/MD area. He was an avid fan of the Washington football team and a music lover who delighted in old time country artists like George Jones, Hank Williams and Patsy Cline. After moving to North Carolina he was an active member of the American Legion Calabash Post 503; previously he had been a member of Edgewater Post 226. He enjoyed taking drives to the beach, entertaining friends in his garage, and sharing good times with family, nieces, nephews and longtime friends.
The family will share funeral and visitation arrangements when plans are finalized. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may honor Buddy’s memory by spending time with family, supporting veterans’ organizations, or sharing a favorite story, song or joke or two that keeps his spirit alive.
The family appreciates the outpouring of love and support during this time.
