Lisa was born September 26, 1966 to Suzanne Haines and Daniel Slama in Steubenville, Ohio. Lisa was family oriented from day one. Growing up with her loving parents, two siblings, many cousins, and beloved grandparents, Mary and Bill Hanlin. Through her childhood years she loved her doll Mrs. Beasley. She participated in church, choir, school plays, and private singing lessons. She didn’t miss a chance to go ice skating or visit the beach, along with many other activities she loved.
As she transitioned into her adult years, traveling to new places, working up to 3 jobs, meeting new people, and loving it all, she eventually settled in Bogue, North Carolina, where she
met her life partner Joseph LaCroix. They were married September 2nd, 2000; becoming the
“beauty in his struggle.”
Together she blessed him with three beautiful children, that they raised with all the love and
protection they have. From the day each one was born, everything she did began and ended
with her family. There was always the five of us, and there was no other way to have it.
Other than her love for God, Lisa had a love for doing anything with her hands; whether it
be sewing, cooking, crafts, pour paintings, any DIY’s, and so many other things. She was a
perfectionist and would always figure out a way for anything. Her endless love also spilled into
work and social life, as she impacted the lives of countless others. She was immensely passionate
about her jobs and customers.
Surviving by her husband Joseph LaCroix; children Jessica, Caleb, and Jacob LaCroix;
siblings Heather (Jeremy) Grainger, Tod Slama; mother Suzanne (Butch) Haines, stepmother
Barbara Slama; 10 nieces and nephews and many other family members.
Lisa is peacefully in heaven, she once said “I was born to be a servant; I serve God, my
husband, my children, my friends, and job. When I leave I will know my duties on earth have
been fulfilled.”
Service arrangements will be released at a later date. A celebration of life will be held at
her former job, 39th Avenue Bar & Grille Saturday, December 16th at 1:00 P.M, and open to the
public.
