

Louis was born August 25, 1927, in Trenton, New Jersey, to Anthony and Maria DeLeo D’Angelo. Louis was the second of two children. His sister, Jean D’Angelo Howell died in 1982.
He was a 1945 graduate of Trenton High School where he was conductor of the Red Band during Sports Night. He was drafted into the Army in 1945 and served as a Tec 4 in the 348th Band. After he was honorably discharged, he received a Bachelor of Music from the Philadelphia Musical Academy, a Bachelor of Science from Temple University and Master of Education from Rutgers University. He taught in New Jersey for 32 years. In New Jersey he was conductor of the Trenton Youth Symphony for several years. In 1957, he married Katharine (Kitty) Brown and had two children. In 1986, after retirement, Lou and Kitty moved to North Myrtle Beach, SC, and later to Little River in 2000.
Louis was a member of Trenton Musicians Association Local 62, for 50 years, a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus 3756, in New Jersey and was a bassist for the Trenton Symphony. While in South Carolina, he was the principal bassist for the Myrtle Beach Philharmonic, participated in many of the Broadway shows that came to our area and was a member of the North Myrtle Beach Lions Club. Lou was an avid bridge player and participated in several bridge groups with his retired friends. He loved the beach and enjoyed his adopted home.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Katharine (Kitty) D’Angelo; children, Louis D’Angelo, DMD; Michele D’Angelo, MAT, E.Ds.; his five grandchildren; Nicole D’Angelo, Alayna D’Angelo, Anthony Long, Gabrielle D’Angelo and Juliana Long. Dr. Anthony Long and Juliana Long were very close to their Pop-Pop and spent all their holidays with him. Louis is also survived by his brother-in-law, Albert Reeves Brown, who lives in Florida; and many cousins from New Jersey.
Funeral Mass is scheduled for 11:00am on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at Our Lady Star of the Sea, North Myrtle Beach, SC. Burial will be private with the family.
