Margaret “Maggi” Frances Chiarella, 73, passed away at home surrounded by her loved ones, after her battle with cancer, on Sunday, August 24, 2025. Born on February 5, 1952 in New York, NY. She was the daughter of the late John Patrick and Harriet (Green) Healy.
Maggi was a 1970 graduate of Sayreville High School and attended Rutgers University in Newark, NJ. While at Rutgers, Maggi met Anthony “Tony” Chiarella, who was studying at Newark College of Engineering. The two began dating in 1972 and were ultimately married on June 8, 1974.
After moving to Coopersburg, Pa. in 1995, Maggi worked as the Technical Facilitator for Liberty Bell Grammar School where she taught and maintained computer labs for the children and ultimately retiring in 2015.
Maggi enjoyed horseback riding, embroidering, cooking, and was an avid reader. She also loved Disney and visited as often as possible while sharing the experiences with her daughter, Caitlin, and Tony. The memories of these trips will be forever treasured by her family. Caitlin followed in her mother’s footsteps regarding her love for Disney and horseback riding and taking it even further by attending the Disney College Program for a period of time.
Maggi and the family traveled and vacationed for over 25 years in the North Myrtle Beach area and after her retirement in 2015, Maggi and Tony relocated and made Longs, South Carolina their home.
Maggi also loved hosting family gatherings and loved having her family close. Her granddaughter, Lorelai, was the apple of her eye and each moment she could spend with her was a gift and a true blessing. She loved watching her grow to be the young woman she is today.
Maggi was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be missed by all who have known and loved her.
Surviving Maggi are her husband, Tony Chiarella, of 51 years; her daughter Caitlin (Chiarella) Patterson (Jack); granddaughter, Lorelai Chiarella; and sisters-in-law, Martha Veltri (Joe) and Julia Daniels (Brian).
