Myrtle A. Porter, 97, died Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

Born on May 28, 1918 in Paducah, TX, she was the daughter of the late Achie and Norma Osborne Spence.

Myrtle changed residence on May 10. Her new address is now in Heaven. Myrtle was one of eleven children. She is survived by 2 sisters in Texas. Myrtle loved her grandkids Matt, Meagan, and Matt’s wife Sandefur—they were the pride of her life. Myrtle loved life and people, but most of all, she loved the Lord. She had a deep personal relationship with Jesus. She loved her fellow residents of Arbor Landing Retirement Community. In her 97 years, she lived through the major wars of the 20th and 21st Century, she endured the Great Depression, through all those experiences she reminded positive and consistently found the good in mankind. She was a strong woman who was patient, loving, and invested in others. She was pleased by the simple things in life like a good flower bed, a home cooked meal, and time playing cards with family and friends.

Mrs. Porter is survived by her son Marshall Porter (Mellanne) of Little River, SC and daughter, Joyce Allen of Reno, NV.

Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Friday, May 13 at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Watertower Road, Longs, SC.

Myrtle what a most important lady you were to me , all of the times we shared a bowl of soup , you're homemade tuna sandwich, then we played Skipbo and Rummyq. I know that if you're not sitting at the feet of our Lord , no body is. ✝ I'll meet you at the eastern gate, Clara Turner
