

Nettie Jane Ginn Bates went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, July 19, 2025. Born in Gastonia, NC on September 5, 1938, Nettie was the daughter of Trenton and Lorena B. Ginn. Nettie graduated from Frank L. Ashley High School in 1956 and continued her education in nursing. She then went to work at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia, NC before moving to the Myrtle Beach area where she worked and retired from several vocations including a nursing career with Dr. N.F. Nixon for 50 years and a career at Belk for 25 years. After retiring, Nettie returned to work at Ocean Treasurers/Boulineaus until her second retirement.
Nettie is survived by her two sons: Trenton LeDon “Donny” Bates (Teresa) of York, SC and Jimmy Dewayne Bates (Janet) of North Myrtle Beach, SC; Granddaughters Ashley Bates-Dial, Austine Bates Vernon (Travis), and Danielle Bates Barreto (Luis); Great Granddaughters, Emma Bates Hernandez (Aiden), Madelyn Vernon, and McKenna Vernon; and one great-great grandson, Lucas Hernandez. She is also survived by her sister Shirley Ginn McGinnis and brother-in-law MC Huffstetler (Joetta); Nieces Pam Huffstetler Hartis (Ken), Teresa McGinnis and Laura Huffstetler; Nephews Pastor Billy Ginn (Tina) and Lamar Ginn; several great nieces and great nephews. Nettie was predeceased by her brother William “Bill” Ginn, sister-in-law Betty Ginn, her sister Margie Ginn Huffstetler, brother-in-law Jr. McGinnis, and nephew Mark Huffstetler. Nettie was a member of Faith Weslyn Church. There will be a small gathering of family at a later date. The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice for their care and consideration .
