Phillip T. Whittington

Phillip Tyson Whittington Jr., died peacefully at home following a courageous battle with cancer. He was 68.

Phil was born on June 28, 1949 in Raleigh, NC. He was a 1967 graduate from Enloe High School. He attended North Carolina State University then enlisted in United States Air Force. Phil pursued a successful career as an executive banker and retired at North Myrtle Beach, SC. His hobbies were golfing and shag dancing to his favorite beach music.

He is survived by his wife Patricia Thomas Whittington; mother Marva Parrish Whittington of Garner, NC; daughter and son-in-law, Kelli and Jeff Gordon of Brevard, NC; daughter, Morgan Whittington of Wilmington, NC; step daughter and son-in-law, Jenny and Jay Dixon of Hampstead, NC; grandchildren Hannah, Pierson, Megan, Caleb, Chase and Walker; brother and sister-in-law Eddie and Sarah Whittington of Cary, NC; niece Ashley Whittington and nephews Frank and Chris Barbee. He was preceded in death by his father Phillip Tyson Whittington Sr.; and nephew, Tyson Whittington.

Visitation will take place Friday, November 24th from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Montlawn Funeral Home Raleigh, NC. A private graveside ceremony for immediate family will take place Saturday, November 25th.
