Ralph Ashby, 105 years and 7 months, died March 7, 2019 at home, surrounded by loving family, friends and caregivers.
He enjoyed golf and loved the game of Chess, and was a founder of the Grand Strand Chess Club. He proudly served his country in the Merchant Marines during World War II and was awarded a Quilt of Honor.
He is survived by his brother, David Ashby of Dorintosh, Canada and sister-in-law, Dorothy Jurczenia of Little River, SC.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Friday, March 15, 2019 at Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church.
