
He was born on June 24, 1931 in Elizabeth, NJ. Son of the late Raymond Jerome and Catherine F. (White) O’Donnell. Ray was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War.
He was retired as a Computer/Project Supervisor from General Motors after 35 plus years of service. He also worked at the Pearl Golf Links as a ranger.
He was the loving husband of Joan Anne (Dube) for 54 years and Rose Ann (Marcisyn) for 14 years.
He is survived by his beloved eight children, Dorothy Rotondo (John), Maureen Knepp (Robert), Raymond J. O’Donnell, III (Joan), Patricia Lozak (Michael), Michael O’Donnell (Janet), Edward O’Donnell (the late Carrie), Carol Ayotte (Mark), Thomas O’Donnell (Lorie). Among his greatest joys was being Pop Pop to his twenty grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother William O’Donnell (Jane).
Ray was a passionate golfer and found joy on the fairways and greens on all the courses in the Golfing Capital of the World (Myrtle Beach) while creating lifelong friendships. He was a long time member of the Calabash Veterans Golf Association. He was also an avid camper pulling his trailer to campsites throughout the country as well as cruising, traveling and watching all sports events.
A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date in Scotch Plains, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Raymond’s memory to Special Olympics or your local Veterans Association.
