Scott Raymond Berglund, 39, of Tabor City, NC, finished his race and obtained his prize on February 4, 2025. He was the loving and faithful husband of Rhiannon Marie (Hall) Berglund; the strong leader of the home they built together, and the beloved father to their five blessings from God; Leif Daniel, Ember Lily, Eliana Rose, Orion Elijah, and Coral Emily.
Scott was a man of exceedingly strong faith who was a fierce defender of biblical truth. He stood firm in his beliefs and was passionate about sharing God's word, inspiring many with his devotion to the gospel. His faith was the cornerstone of who he was, and his legacy will continue to be felt for all eternity by those who knew him.
Born on November 13, 1985, in Bemidji, MN, to Raymond Arthur Berglund and Dawn April (Dent) Berglund, who mourn this tremendous loss now as only his first loving caretakers could. Under their Godly leadership and careful stewardship, Scott came to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and was born again on January 15,1990. As he grew in stature, he grew even more so in his faith.
As their first born son, “Berg” took most seriously his responsibility to lead by example for his own literal band of brothers; Benjamin “Benji” Arthur Torliev Berglund, Kraig “Kraigles” Ryan Berglund, and Matthew “Bear” Thomas Berglund. Together, these four made up a band of merry men, that despite being separated by great geographical distances as adults, set aside time to talk regularly about their lives and their many shared interests including their love of books, playing cards and board games, watching and playing sports, and most importantly, their mutual faith in God. They looked to him for wisdom, guidance, laughter, and friendship, and he cherished his unique relationship with each one, and prayed for them daily. He believed wholeheartedly in their immense God-given potential and always sought to encourage them to a closer walk with Jesus.
He is survived by his maternal grandmother, Rosemary Dent, whom he loved dearly; and his many exceedingly proud aunts and uncles; William Pemble, Carla Berglund, Daren and Kelly (Marleau) Berglund, James and Heather (Berglund) Loeffler, James and Doreen (Dent) Ashley, Fred and Debra (Dent) Graves, and Dave and Jenni (Starz) Dent.
He was looked up to by his cousins: Randi, Rachael, Jeremiah, Noah, Danni, Kirsten, Emily, Katerina, Jacque, Andrew, Jon, Alexander, Patric, and Nicolas; along with his deeply cherished nieces and nephews; Madison, Declan, Brian, Kynley, and Karson. He kept each of these always in his thoughts and prayers.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Dale A. and Sharon E. Berglund, who he always looked forward to working together with in his shop and modeled his unparalleled work ethic after; his maternal grandfather, Jerry L. Dent, who was the respected patriarch of his family and established a legacy of faith that Scott sought to exemplify in his own life; a treasured aunt, Valerie (Berglund) Pemble; and his cousin, Jim Bob Graves.
Professionally, he was a jack of all trades and almost a master of all of them. He worked for himself as a contractor, and spent the last years of his life building, with his own two hands and the help of his wife, a home for his family on their beautiful 25 acre property. He was extraordinarily intelligent and knew the scriptures with an encyclopedic knowledge. With a competitive spirit and a natural athleticism, he found himself on the softball field any chance he could, often challenging calls in the pursuit of justice and encouraging his teammates to do their absolute best. He believed that in everything one does, they should work heartily, as to the Lord, and not to men. He did his best to present himself to God as one approved, a worker who had no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.
He will be missed always by his family and by the many, many people who were blessed to call him “friend”. For those who believe, we know that while we will not see Scott again in this life, we can be confident that we will see him in the next.
“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my Word and believes Him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.” -John 5:24
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations of live fruit trees, which Scott had plans to plant as an orchard for his fruit-loving children to eat for many years to come. To order a fruit tree, call 701-335-9582 for more details. Alternatively, the family would appreciate living potted plants… Praise God for new life!
